Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 18, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Fleet Manager ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our vehicle management service.

Personal Use Tool Disclaimer

Fleet Manager is a personal-use tool that facilitates your direct connection to the Tesla Fleet API using your own Tesla Developer Account. This is not a commercial fleet management service. You create and control your own Tesla Developer application, select which API permissions (scopes) to authorize, and maintain full ownership of your API credentials. Your consent for data access is given directly to Tesla through their OAuth authorization process when you link your vehicles.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

  • Email address (used for login and communications)
  • Account creation date
  • Profile information you choose to add

1.2 Tesla Developer Credentials

  • Your Tesla Developer Application Client ID
  • Your Tesla Developer Application Client Secret (encrypted)
  • OAuth access and refresh tokens (encrypted)
  • Generated authentication key pairs

Important: We never access, store, or transmit your Tesla account username or password. You authenticate directly with Tesla. We only store the API credentials (Client ID, Client Secret) from your personal Tesla Developer application and the OAuth tokens that Tesla issues after you authorize access.

1.3 Vehicle Data

We collect the following data from your Tesla vehicles:

  • Vehicle Identification: VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), display name, model, color
  • GPS Location: Real-time location, location history, and movement patterns. When location tracking is active, the application displays a visible indicator.
  • Battery & Charging: State of charge, charging status, energy consumption, charging history
  • Trip Data: Start/end locations, distance traveled, energy used, timestamps
  • Vehicle State: Lock status, climate settings, door/window states, sentry mode status
  • Odometer: Total mileage readings

1.4 Telemetry Data (Optional)

If you enable Fleet Telemetry streaming, we may collect additional real-time data including:

  • Speed and acceleration data
  • Detailed battery cell information
  • Motor and powertrain telemetry
  • HVAC and climate system data
  • Tire pressure readings

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Service Provision: To provide vehicle monitoring, control, and analytics features
  • Authentication: To verify your identity and secure your account
  • Vehicle Commands: To execute commands on your vehicles (lock, unlock, climate, etc.)
  • Data Visualization: To display dashboards, charts, and trip histories
  • Sharing Features: To allow you to share vehicle access with others
  • Communications: To send magic link emails and important service notifications

2.1 Consent and Authorization

When you connect your Tesla vehicles, you authorize data access directly with Tesla through their OAuth flow. You control which API scopes (data categories) your personal Tesla Developer application can access. You may modify these permissions at any time through your Tesla Developer Account or by revoking access in your Tesla Account settings.

3. Data Storage and Security

  • All sensitive data (credentials, tokens, private keys) is encrypted using industry-standard encryption (Fernet/AES)
  • Data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database
  • All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • We do not store your Tesla account password
  • Authentication keys are generated locally and stored encrypted

4. Data Retention

We store the following data types: Account Data, Trip History, Telemetry Data, Charge History, and Location Data (as part of trip history).

All data is retained for up to 10 years to comply with tax audit requirements (e.g., Danish tax regulations allow audits up to 10 years back). You may delete your data at any time by removing vehicles or your account. Note that early deletion may affect your ability to document mileage for tax purposes.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Your data may be shared in the following circumstances:

  • Vehicle Sharing: When you share a vehicle, the shared user can see the vehicle data according to their permission level
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law or legal process
  • Service Providers: With hosting providers (encrypted data only) necessary to operate the Service

6. Sensitive Information

We do not collect, process, or attempt to infer sensitive personal information from your vehicle data. This includes health status, political beliefs, race or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, genetic information, or disability status.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all data we have collected about you
  • Correction: Update or correct your account information
  • Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Revoke Access: Disconnect your Tesla account at any time
  • Manage Permissions: Review and modify which data categories your Tesla Developer application can access through your Tesla Developer Account, or revoke vehicle access entirely through your Tesla Account settings.

Tesla may use your data in accordance with the Tesla Customer Privacy Notice. If any conflict exists between this Privacy Policy and the Tesla Privacy Notice, the Tesla Privacy Notice takes precedence regarding Tesla's handling of your data.
